Big Music Weekend

B Live and Quick Turtle Heat Up the Music Scene

Rudy Murillo | Jul 29, 2010

Looks like the summer season is just starting to heat up, with not one but two big shows this weekend.

On Friday, B Live Promotions brings us Shapes Have Fangs, Yellow Fever & Randy Tate. Shapes Have Fangs and Yellow Fever both hail from Austin. The indie-rock sound will surely take your ears on a vacation from the typical rock we come to expect in Laredo. Also, local act Randy Tate will be releasing their first single "Borderline" off their upcoming full-length album "Around the Bend" that night.

The show starts at 8 p.m. at Old No. 2. Tickets are $10.

On Saturday, the ladies from Quick Turtle Productions bring us Turtle Fest 2010. The local music festival they've put together will feature live performances by Tokyo Nights, Automatic Weekend, La Mata, Beneath the Flames, Pretty Visitors and Smoke and Mirrors. There will also be an open mic at the start of the show, so if you got some talent, you can also show everybody what you've got. Art by some of Laredo's most talented artists will also be on display. Top this off with a dance performance by Dark Dancer, beer and brisket tacos, and you've got a much welcomed summer fest.

Turtle Fest 2010 starts at 5 p.m. at Nuevo Tio Hut. Cover is $3.

... And don't forget, The 2010 Sledge TV Awards presented by the CW is next weekend. Make sure to make it out and support all your favorite local acts!
